Visiting Volunteer and/or Residential Support Volunteer
Hospice is all about "neighbours supporting neighbours."
Palliative care volunteers represent a warm and caring community. As a palliative care volunteer, you would be a friendly visitor. You would provide practical support or a listening ear for someone living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness. You would support the individual and his/her support network in their home. To become a palliative care volunteer you must complete 30 hours of online training. The training includes:
- a better understanding of quality of life, advance care planning
- death, dying, grief and loss issues,
- the art of listening
- the hospice philosophy
- an understanding of medical management for caring for a patient
- the psychological and social issues families deal with in the care of their dying loved one
To become a palliative care volunteer, contact our office at 613 645-4040 ext. 204 or register online.
Fundraising and Events Volunteer
78% of the revenue Hospice needs to operate each year comes to us through fundraising. Generous donors and fundraising events are critical for our survival. Consider volunteering for Hike for Hospice, Shred-a-thon, or our Golf Tournament.
