Ruby Young Project
Ruby Young is a local artist and long-time resident of Prince Edward County. She has enjoyed drawing for many years. Ruby created a series of sugar shack illustrations in honor of the 10th anniversary of Maple in the County, which were very well received, and which led to the creation of a series of drawings, featuring many of the County’s historically significant buildings and streetscapes, wineries, lighthouses, sugar shacks and animals.
Ruby Young donates her artwork to Hospice Prince Edward, who use her illustrations to create note cards and t-shirts, which are sold through local retailers, raising funds to support the community residential hospice located in Picton.
The Ruby Young Project is one of our fundraising activities that supports our community residential hospice at 40 Downes Avenue. Similar to any other home, our residential community hospice home has monthly & annual expenditures such as heat, hydro, insurance, maintenance, repairs & supplies.
With the generous donation of Ruby Young’s artwork, Hospice Prince Edward formed the Ruby Young Project as a fundraising program by transforming Ruby's illustrious artwork into a collection of cards available for sale through local retailers in Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington.
Our supportive local retailers sell these lovely cards for $4.00 with no tax applied. The funds raised from the sale of the cards provides needed financial support to our community residential Hospice in Prince Edward County.

How did the Ruby Young Project get started?
When the Ruby Young Project first started, our dedicated volunteers at Hospice Prince Edward began the monumental task of scanning in all of Ruby Young’s artwork of animals, churches, historic buildings & streetscapes, mills & sugar bushes into small sized note cards that could then be readily sold in stores.
In order to print out new cards, Hospice Prince Edward connected with Print Practice who has been of tremendous assistance in making the Ruby Young Project take the leap from a fundraising project idea into a reality.
All of this would not have been possible without the generous support of our volunteers and Print Practice.
Our volunteers found the support of aforementioned listed retail stores who were willing to help support our journey and our volunteer group began the distribution of cards out to supportive businesses in Bloomfield, Picton and Wellington.
Today, our collection of Ruby Young Cards can be found in all of our listed stores and we also have cards available in our stock at our residential hospice home if you are interested in placing a card order with us.
